21st-Apr-2010 10:15 am - Economic Solutions for the USA
I'm only posting these because Australia is a land of Followers and Imitators. We occasionally come up with something unique, but it's almost instantly sold off to the highest overseas bidder, so it really doesn't count. We, as a nation, tend to trail after whoever is 'in charge' of the globe... endlessly aping whatever we consider to be their successful traits.

We followed the United Kingdom, since most of us had ancestry there, until the world wars, when it was made increasingly clear that America had bigger and better boom sticks, entertainment, and money. We've been aping them ever since.

Now it looks like China is sidling into the lead, starting with a near majority of shares in the USA. I've had a good think about this and honestly, I'd rather have my government trailing after a country bought and sold by soulless corporations than one run by bloodthirsty and ruthless dictators who want to be worshiped like gods after they die.

[Seriously, what is it about Communist leaders that makes them so fan-dabby-tabulous when they kark it?]

Anyway, before this devolves into a completely different digression, I give you my personal ideas on how to fix America's massive debt. Pay attention, Uncle Sam.Collapse )
19th-Apr-2010 06:14 am - Daylight Savings: Ur doin' it wrong
Everyone's got some objection to daylight savings if they're involved with doing stuff outside of an office in the middle of the day. Those for it only want it for (a) more business hours or (b) more time to hit the golf links in the afternoon.

Forget the tired old cliche about fading curtains - you know, the one bought out by the pro-daylight-savings mob to make the cons look stupid... I have some real objections and they start thusly:

Ur doin' it wrong!Collapse )
16th-Apr-2010 06:59 am - Cheap-ass Surprise
I've been battling sleep dep, depression, and a bunch of other stuff for a while, so it's no surprise to me that I haven't cooked anything from scratch this year.

Kid you not. It's taken me this long to cook something. It's 'something', all right.Collapse )
13th-Apr-2010 10:28 am - I Call Shenanigans!
To all those people who repeatedly insist that High School was/is "the best years of" anyone's life including their own.

You are demented, deluded and a dill. And here I explain precisely why.Collapse )
I'm not trying to be "controversial" or anything, that is my personal view. I spent thirteen years of my life being systematically tormented by this particular group of people. I spent a further small handful in the ingrained 'knowledge' that I was inherently unwantable - and I'd become *comfortable* with that.

I was so screwed up that I had something of a meltdown when someone found me lovable. Yes, folks. *That* screwed up.

Read on if you dareCollapse )
19th-Mar-2010 07:28 am - Dear Drama Llama: PISS OFF!
I have had a month and a half's worth of visits by the Drama Llama. I have had more than enough of my fair share of real-life drama.

What happens when you need the mincer, yet have mislaid essential, small parts?

This stuff.

16th-Sep-2009 05:12 am - Having Half a Cow
A couple of months back, darling dearest and I decided to invest in a side of beef. Pre-chopped for ease of handling, of course.

Let me tell you, half a cow is a LOT of beef. First step, getting the tonnage of dead cow into our upright freezer, a task that did for my upper arms by the end of the day. It freaking filled the freezer from almost-empty to absolutely and completely chockers.

Over the next few entries, I'll be chronicling what we're doing with our side of beef, replete with recipes. In case anyone's fool enough to follow me. I can't find an online resource for beef prices, so could someone please help me on how much each meal/recipe costs?

28th-Dec-2007 10:21 pm - If I had a hammer...
Well, actually, I do.

A brand new Ban-hammer, with which to smite the ungainly hordes of spammers who've been assaulting my forum of late. Fortunately for me, they're all morons who can't write an english reason why they want to join.

Now I've figured out, through extensive jiggery-pokery, how to turn on Admin Validation. Which means that these morons can be neatly filtered through several easy processes.

It's so nifty to select every member of the Validating group and smite them to ashes >:D

And... no more spam! Yay!

More time for ficcage like In-a play park, With-a bunny suit, While-a Easter-egg hunt occurs.Collapse )

Oh, and Christmas? Was surprisingly easy and satisfying.
